Open Day FAQs

We look forward to welcoming you to our Open Day, to assist in planning your day please find our frequently asked questions and helpful information below.

Depending on the subject you are interested in, you will attend the Open Day at one of our three campuses: ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ, Avery Hill or Medway. If the subjects you are interested in are taught on different campuses, you can use our campus bus schedule to plan your day.

Please read the relevant information for the campus(es) you are planning on attending to make the most of your experience at our Open Day.

How do I get to the campus?

ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ

There are multiple ways you can travel to our ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ campus. You can get here...

  • by Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Cutty Sark (approx. 3 min walk).
  • by riverboat to ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Pier (3 min walk).
  • by bus. Check ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ ´Ç°ù  websites for more information.
  • by car. Public 'pay and display' 
  • by catching the inter-campus bus from Avery Hill or Medway (timetable below)

Avery Hill

Our Avery Hill campus is situated in Eltham, in Southeast London. To get here...

  • by train, visit for timetables, our nearest stations are New Eltham and Falconwood (approx. 15 min walk).
  • by bus, check out the Avery Hill ´Ç°ù  websites for more information.
  • by car, free parking is available on campus for the Open Day.
  • by catching the inter-campus bus from our ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ campus (timetable below).

Please note the entrance to the campus is on Avery Hill Road. If using Google Maps please look for the campus called ‘Southwood site.’ The ‘Mansion site’ is now closed.

Medway

There are multiple ways you can travel to our Medway campus, which is in Chatham in Kent. You can get here...

  • by train to Chatham Station (approx. 5 min by bus) or Gillingham station (approx. 20 min walk / 10 min by bus).
  • by car, free parking is available on campus for the Open Day.
  • by local bus direct to the campus, check out the Medway or for more information.
  • by campus bus. You can find more information below in the Campus bus section.

Is parking available on-site?

ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ

Due to space limitations at our ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Campus, there is no on-site parking available for Open Day attendees. Public 'pay and display' car parks can be found

On-site parking is reserved for staff permit holders, disabled drivers and visitors with pre-arranged parking. If you have accessibility requirements and require a pre-booked parking space, please email opendays@greenwich.ac.uk.

Avery Hill

Free parking is available on campus for Open Day visitors.

Medway

Free parking is available on campus for Open Day visitors.

Campus bus: how can I get from one campus to the other?

You can use our University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ bus service to travel between all three campuses.

Buses at ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ depart from outside the Dreadnought Building.

Buses at Avery Hill depart from the stop by Parr Building.

Buses at Medway depart from the stop by the Security building on Central Avenue.

How do I check-in?

ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ

You can check-in from 10:00am on the day of the event at the entrance of:

  • Stockwell Street building for School of Design and School of Stage & Screen subjects.
  • Queen Anne building for ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Business School, School of Law & Criminology and School of Humanities & Social Sciences subjects.
  • King William building for School of Computing & Mathematical Sciences and School of Engineering (Construction) subjects.
  • Dreadnought building for School of Education and School of Human Sciences subjects.

To help manage queues and for safety measures, within your ‘important information’ email you will have been assigned a check-in point. Please use this allocated check-in point as this will also be close to your selected subject sessions.

After check-in, you will receive your visitor lanyard for access into our buildings.


Avery Hill

Head to the David Fussey building at 10:00am to check-in and receive your visitor lanyard for access into our buildings.


Medway

You can check-in from 10:00am on the day of the event at the Pilkington Building.


Is the site accessible?

We want to ensure that your visit is enjoyable. If you or any of your guests have any mobility requirements or would like additional assistance, please let us know by emailing opendays@greenwich.ac.uk.

How can I access the schedule?

Open day schedules provide a great way to plan your visit, explore the campus and attend sessions.

You can download your Open Day schedule here.

At the event there will also be posters with a QR code you can scan to get your schedule.

Is there Wi-Fi?

For the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ open day, free guest Wi-Fi will be provided across all campus sites.

There will be posters around each campus providing specific step-by-step instructions on how to access the guest Wi-Fi.

Please ask the on-site staff if you require further assistance.

Where should I go?

ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ

You can find the location of your school or faculty by using our campus map. This is where you will meet your future teaching staff and take part in informative talks and sessions.

The Welcome talk for ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Business School can be found in the Queen Anne Building.

The Welcome talk for the Faculty of Education, Health & Human Sciences is in the Stephen Lawrence Building.

The Welcome talk for the Faculty of Engineering and Science is in the King William Building.


Avery Hill

On arrival, please go to the David Fussey building to check-in. You can find the location of your school or faculty by using our Open Day Schedules. This is where you will meet your future teaching staff and take part in informative talks and sessions.

The Welcome Talk for the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences will take place in our David Fussey Building.


Medway

On arrival, please go to the Pilkington building to check-in. There, you will also meet our student ambassadors who will be able to take you to the subject sessions. This is where you will meet your future teaching staff and take part in informative talks and sessions.

The Welcome talk for the Faculty of Engineering and Science will take place in the Pilkington Building.

The Welcome Talk for the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences will take place in the Nelson Building.

What else can I do?

ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ

  • Go on a student-led campus tour, departing from the Stockwell Street building.
  • Talk to our friendly support staff about the application process, fees & funding, wellbeing, student accommodation, and our careers & employability service in the Dreadnought building atrium.
  • Visit the Stockwell Street Library.
  • Tour halls of residence with one of our Student Ambassadors, departing from the Dreadnought building.
  • Find out about the Students’ Union and explore the Lower Deck and social spaces.

Avery Hill

  • Go on student-led campus and accommodation tours, starting from The Dome.
  • Talk to our friendly support staff about the application process, fees & funding, wellbeing, student accommodation, and our careers & employability service in the David Fussey Building.
  • Visit our Avery Hill Library and Edible Garden.
  • Find out about the Students’ Union and explore the social spaces on campus.

Medway

  • Go on student-led campus and accommodation tours, starting from the Pilkington building.
  • Visit the Drill Hall library.
  • Talk to our friendly support staff about the application process, fees & funding, wellbeing, student accommodation, and our careers & employability service in the Pilkington Building.
  • Find out about the Students’ Union and explore the social spaces on campus.

Do I need to pre-book the accommodation and campus tours?

ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ

These are very popular! We recommend pre-booking the tours, as there are limited spaces available. If you are planning to go on any tours, please go to the dedicated ticket collection stand to book your timed slot. Campus tour tickets can be collected from the stand in the Stockwell Street building and Campus tours will depart from the Stockwell Street foyer. Accommodation tour tickets can be collected from the Accommodation stand in the Dreadnought atrium, Accommodation tours will depart from the Dreadnought atrium.

Avery Hill and Medway

We recommend pre-booking the tours, as there are limited spaces available. If you are planning to go on any of the tours, please go up to the dedicated stands and book your slot.

What about Covid and other infection prevention methods?

The safety of our guests, students and staff is our highest priority. We understand that COVID and other infectious illnesses are still a cause for concern for some and we will continue to apply sensible and proportionate  to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses, including influenza, and to reduce the risk to our community.

We strongly encourage all our visitors to frequently wash their hands, use our hand sanitising stations, and keep a safe social distance where possible.
