International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity at home, in the workplace and within wider society.
Marked annually on the 8th of March, (IWD) prompts significant activity worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality. International Women’s Day aims to:
- Celebrate women's achievements
- Raise awareness about women's equality
- Lobby for accelerated gender parity
Colleagues across the university are marking International Women’s Day with events, activities and articles highlighting women’s challenges and achievements.
The IWD 2023 theme is #EmbraceEquity
Equity isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have. A focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society's DNA. And it's critical to understand the difference between equity and equality.
The IWD 2023 campaign theme drives worldwide understanding of why equal opportunities aren't enough!
