Research / Scholarly interests
His research interest focuses on the deeper understanding of the mechanical behaviour of composite materials across the scales (from micro- to macro) by investigating the way that micro-mechanical parameters affect the overall mechanical performance of the structural components. The role of the underlying micro-structure is incorporated in the mechanical analysis using enhanced constitutive models which are provided from generalised continuum theories (Cosserat, strain gradient, couple stress, etc.) In this way, enhanced and more effective structural composite components can be designed against various failure mechanisms like buckling, delaminations, cracks, etc.
