All members of Gender, Deviance and Society are engaged in research-informed teaching.

In 2019 we launched a new MSc ‘Criminology, Gender and Sexualities.’ This postgraduate degree, designed by Dr Stacy Banwell and Dr Alexandra Fanghanel, is the only course of its kind in the UK.  The development of this programme reflects a growing trend towards gendered analyses of crime and punishment within the discipline as a whole. In line with the subject benchmark for criminology, this programme addresses the “intersectionality of deviance and crime in relation to: class, gender, race and ethnicity, religious faith and sexuality.”

Details of the MSc Criminology, Gender and Sexualities can be accessed here.

All members of Gender, Deviance and Society contribute to this programme either through module design and delivery or through research supervision.  This programme offers a unique take on the traditional PG dissertation. The ‘Academic Project’ requires students to produce an academic journal-style piece of writing and to present a conference-style paper of their work. This programme offers students the opportunity to progress from taught-postgraduate study to postgraduate research student. Students who complete this MSc and embark upon this research pathway at the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ, will be invited to join this research group.
