ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ offers diverse opportunities for staff training and development. Make use of courses on offer to further your learning.

As part of our commitment to maintaining its high standards, we run an extensive staff development programme, which offers a range of development events on areas we feel are of interest and relevance to staff.

We firmly believe that development works both ways, and encourage all staff to share their knowledge and expertise through the work they carry out, and by fully participating in the University community and its networks. Within a culture of continuous improvement, we invite staff to actively develop their job roles, pursue their career aims and fulfil their potential.

Development opportunities

To enable you to succeed early on, new staff receive a comprehensive induction and can access a range of training and development opportunities. As you develop, you can draw on support from a number of specialist areas.

Offers include:

  • Support for completing compliance learning which underpins our work
  • Support for early career and more established researchers
  • PGCert along with a wealth of professional development support for lecturers which are new to the profession, and for more established academics
  • Staff are encouraged to make use of our academic courses for their own development.  Many full-time and part-time staff study at the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ or elsewhere for a subsidised fee.
  • A host of additional support, including: leadership and management development, team facilitation, coaching and mentoring, job shadowing, guidance on a range of development activities such as secondments and job-sharing opportunities.
  • Five days' paid leave for studying for assessments or exams, and for taking part in voluntary public duties, such as school governorships.
