Resignation

Submitting Your Resignation in Horizon

To submit your resignation in Horizon either go to quick actions and select resignation or under the app section, click on the Personal Information Tile and Select Employment Info.

  • Select resignation from the actions menu and add your resignation date, this is the date you want to leave the university.
  • Then select whether this is a resignation or a retirement.
  • Select the reason for leaving the university, select continue.
  • The next section is a statutory HESA information.
  • You have now submitted your resignation.
  • You will receive a notification about the checklists, which acts as a confirmation when your manager and H.R. have approved the resignation.
  • Please note, if your manager does not approve your resignation, H.R. will not be informed.
  • Please cheque in person with your manager to make sure they approve the action.
  • Or you may be at risk of overpayment and not receiving your P45 promptly.

Finalise your resignation in Horizon

Once the resignation has been confirmed, you can access the checklist tasks by either clicking on them directly in your notifications or by going to my checklists, current tasks to see all tasks.

Complete the actions listed in the description and then click complete.

  • This will take you back to your list of tasks. Do this for all of your checklists.
  • Once you and your manager have completed all of the tasks, the checklist will close automatically.
  • Select the relevant checklist in the next screen to see what is outstanding.
  • Click on the top task and read the action for you to take in the description.
  • If the task is in Horizon, e.g. update your personal details, click on the go to task button and complete anything you may need to do.

Accepting a resignation in Horizon

In Horizon, click on the Assigned to me tasks or on the linked text of the action required box.

  • This opens a resignation, details pop up window, allowing you to request further information, approve, reject or add comments for the particular resignation.
  • To approve the resignation, select the approve button at the top, right, and enter a comment if required.
  • The approval box and the resignation pop up will close. The resignation is now past the hour for their confirmation.
  • Once confirmed by Hajjah as a line manager, you will be issued with further tasks to complete.
  • These tasks are part of the off boarding process and can be found by going to my team and selecting allocate a checklist from the actions menu of the employee resigning.
  • Tasks include ensuring that the member of staff has taken pro-rata the correct amount of leave prior to the end of the notice period, ensuring that any university property such as computers, books, keys and documents have been or will be returned prior to the end of the notice period, requesting or updating any email lists or access which the user may have rights to.
  • Most central IT systems will be updated automatically, but personal email groups need to be amended manually.
  • Once arranged for each task, select complete to close and complete the task.
  • Once all tasks have been completed, you will be notified that there are no more outstanding.
  • The member of staff resigning will also be assigned various tasks to complete as part of their onboarding process.
