Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy at the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ offers help and guidance to all students and staff regardless of individual belief. If we can help, we will. If we can’t, we will find someone who can.

The chaplains: who we are

How the Chaplaincy is here to help you

What is a university chaplaincy?

The Chaplaincy is both a place and a team of people, known as Chaplains. Chaplains are appointed by faith communities to work at the university to care for students and staff of all religions or none.

Each campus has at least one chaplain, based in the Chaplaincy Office.

What we do

Home from home

  • We provide a positive, homely atmosphere to students and staff.
  • We offer hospitality to those who visit the Chaplaincy offices.
  • We help students, especially those from abroad, to register and settle in.
  • We support the university community by organising trips, religious services, and other events.
  • Assist at graduations and freshers' fairs.

Heart to heart

  • We provide confidential pastoral care to those in distress or need.
  • In the event of a serious incident affecting students or staff, we offer confidential care and guidance to those affected.
  • We offer spiritual direction to students and staff, of all faiths or none.
  • We support respectful exploration and discussion of beliefs and ethics.
  • We visit sick students at home if requested and visit students in hospital or prison.
  • We offer advice and workshops on how to do well at university.
  • We co-ordinate a network of Christian students at the three campuses.

Our multi-faith prayer rooms

There is a prayer room on each university campus. These are provided for all students and staff, of all faiths and none.

  • ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ: Room 018, Dreadnought Building
  • Avery Hill: Seymour court
  • Medway: Room 039, Pilkington Building

Regular events and services

We run religious and social activities, events and workshops as well as services of prayer, Holy Communion, Bible studies and discussions on ethical issues.
