I enjoyed many memorable moments while studying and working at ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ. I often walked through the ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ campus surrounded by the Old Royal Naval College and with the views of Canary Wharf which inspired to me to pursue my ambition to work in the UK Financial Services sector.
Memories of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ
I chose ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ as it was one of the few universities that offered Events Management as a degree, with a one-year placement in industry.
During my one-year placement I was elected as Vice President at the Students’ Union. The sandwich year experience during my degree helped me to develop personally and professionally. I had the honour to organise many key student events such as The Freshers’ Fair and the Summer Ball. This was particularly valuable to demonstrate my practical skills in job interviews post-graduation.
Life after ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ
After graduating I worked in the Student Finance Team at the University for a few years. I would like to thank all colleagues past and present that have worked at ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ and who help students through their journey to settle, develop and succeed. Having been both a student and a member of the student support staff, I truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that Student Services offers at the University.
It was emotional finally leaving ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ for good after successfully securing a job at the Financial Conduct Authority. Since joining the FCA, I have taken on many different roles and continued to learn and explore new opportunities. I feel lucky that I really enjoy what I do and take great pride in working as a regulator in such a well-respected institution and representing ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ.
I have recently signed up to be a mentor for students at the University. I feel I am in a good position to give practical advice and help with career preparation as well as just being a listening ear for the student experience which was such a big part of my life.
