Thanks to University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ, I gained the foundation and opportunity to reach for my career dream and travel around the world while doing what I love. Up to this day, whenever I want inspiration and guidance, I always go back to that magical place. So many memories, lessons and long-lasting relationships that give me a sense of strength and security.
Memories of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ
My journey has been a long one, with ups and downs, but at the end of every phase I have always looked back with a smile. All the obstacles became a lesson that I learnt about myself and the businesses I worked in.
My happiest moments came from being able to overcome the barriers that came along the way, to which I have to thank all my mentors who were always open and honest about life outside university. They helped me realise that the most important part of this process is the journey, and depending on how you react to changes, soon enough you will reach your destination.
Networking, persistence and resilience are keys to everyone’s success and these where the main behaviours that from year one were instilled in me. Thanks to my lecturers and fellow colleagues, whose different views and experiences helped shape each and everyone of us on my course.
Coming back to ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ is like going back in time, where everything is possible, and every dream is soon to be a reality. Tools and resources are all around us; you just need to want to reach out and ask for guidance and you will find someone who will gladly help.
Life after ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ
The support I received from the university after graduating was vital in securing my first international job role. After attending job events on campus, I was given the opportunity to be a part of new opening for APM Terminals before my current leadership role in the NHS.
I have now enjoyed more than 9 years working in Continuous Improvement and Programme Management in both the shipping and healthcare sectors and am passionate about data analytics, innovation, automation and culture change. I desire to continue my development and have since been certified on Gemba Kaizen by Toyota in Japan and Lean by Virginia Mason.
Mentoring is key to effective leadership and this is something which I’m really excited to pursue in the future: to give back and mentor and coach those around me.
