ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ has given me the opportunity to not only shape my career and develop my skills, but to travel abroad, learn another language, sail as part of the Tall Ships Festival for the first time in my life, and meet some of my closest friends. It will always hold a very special place in my heart.
Memories of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ
I met some of the most important and inspiring people in my life during my time at ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ. Whether it was the times I would come out of a lecture and see a film being shot on our campus grounds, grab some delicious food from ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Market, walk up to the Royal Observatory for one of the most beautiful views of London, run around campus with my colleagues to solve an issue during an event, or stress with my friends as we try to meet a deadline for a group project, my time at ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ is a treasure trove full of memories that defines the person who I am today.
My advice for current students is don't be afraid to get involved in the non-academic side of university as it's not just about revising for tests and completing your assignments! Join that society, sign up for that volunteering opportunity, go to that social, you never know who you might meet - it could be your future business partner, or the missing puzzle piece for that passion project you've been wanting to start for ages but didn't know how!
Life after ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ
While studying, I wanted to make sure I prepared for my career after graduation, as I understood the importance of having experience alongside my degree. With the help of the Business School Employability Office I was matched with a mentor from the marketing agency RAPP, who helped me to understand what it is like to work within a marketing agency and provided tips for job applications.
After my second year, I completed a placement and worked full-time at the University within the Business School Marketing Team. I progressed to working part-time within the Business School Events Team during my third year. When I graduated, I started my career in marketing and events as an Account Executive at the travel marketing agency, Hills Balfour. This was a fantastic opportunity to work with destinations across the world, but I really missed the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ community, so I returned and have been working at the university ever since!
