Dr Ayotunde Dawodu
Senior Lecturer in Built Environment
Dr Ayotunde Dawodu is a Senior Lecturer at the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Faculty of Engineering and Science. His research is centred on improving sustainable development of buildings, communities, and cities through considerations for scientific, socio-economic, and socio-cultural elements. He is a strong advocate of a balanced approach to sustainable development and inclusivity in design and development of the built environment.
Dr Ayotunde specialises is sustainability assessment tool methods for evaluating guiding, ranking and assessing the sustainability of buildings and communities. His research further specialises on investigating and enhancing adoption of these sustainability methods in less developed parts of the world. He is also a certified BREEAM Assessor and a WELL accredited Professional (AP), attesting to his professional capabilities as a sustainability and health and wellbeing expert in the built environment. He has recently been admitted into the WELL Concept Advisory group for Communities, where he provides research contribution to enhancing the impact of the WELL assessment tool.
Internationally he was awarded and completed a two year ‘China’s International Young research’ grant project, given by the National Natural Science Foundation China (NSFC) during his tenure as assistant professor at the University of Nottingham China, for his application titled ‘An Alternative Pathway for the Sustainable Development of Cities: The development of Campus-based Sustainability Assessment Tool| (CSAT) for Chinese Cities’, where he was awarded the equivalent of £35,000. He was also awarded £45,000 on a smart food system project.
Dr Ayotunde Dawodu's publications attest to his research activities, as he has authored 2 books and published over 25 journal papers all related to sustainability issues in cities and communities with 80% of them being in Q1 or Q2 journals. These journals include Sustainable City and Society, Building Research Information, Journal of Cleaner Production, Global Food Security, and books published by Routledge and Springer.
