Matthew Cunliffe
Lecturer in Psychology
Matthew is an experienced consultant and sport and exercise psychologist. He has worked as a consultant, lecturer, and researcher since 2012 and has accompanied many professional athletes and business people on their journey to success. Notably Matthew has worked for the English Institute of Sport supporting Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Matthew has run his own consultancy company since the age of 21 and is currently working as a lecturer at the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ. He has also worked on the sport science delivery team for the Pro Golfers Association (PGA UK), British Association of Snow Sport Instructors, and has worked as a tutor in psychology at various adult education institutes.
Matthew is an expert in the use of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in sport with a working knowledge of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and motivational interviewing and has particular strengths in the areas of: performance psychology; emotion and motivation regulation; anxiety control; coach development; performance enhancement; athlete well-being; psychometric assessment; and clinical supervision. Finally Matthew is an applied practice supervisor and assessor for the Qualification in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
