Dr Esther Mensah B.Sc, MSc, PhD

Lecturer in Marketing and Sales

Dr Esther Mensah is a Lecturer in Marketing and Sales at the Executive Business Centre, ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Business School.

Esther received her PhD in Marketing from Loughborough University, UK. Before joining University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ in September 2023, Dr Mensah has had a varied experience of teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Ghana, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. Her teaching portfolio includes modules such as "Organisations in the International Context" and "Principles of Marketing" at Loughborough University, as well as "Business Research Methods" and "Comparative International Human Resource Management" at institutions in Ghana. Her postgraduate teaching spans topics like "E-Business" and "Inter-cultural Management" at Aalborg University in Denmark.

Esther is an Early Career Researcher who is actively researching topics on the nexus between Strategy, Marketing and International Business. Her doctoral research, provides insights into the dynamics between strategy and marketing, particularly focusing on cooperation and competition among UK manufacturing firms and its influence on business performance. She has secured over £105,000 in the form of scholarships and grants.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr Mensah is passionate about enterprise and leverages her experience in consulting to make significant contributions on a pro bono basis. She has works with EDIP Consulting Group (United Kingdom & Ghana) on pro bono basis as a business consultant. Previously she has worked as a Associate Research Consultant at Code Switch Consultant (United Kingdom) and as a Doctoral Innovation Consultant at Loughborough University (United Kingdom).

Second place winner of the People's Choice Award for Best Assessment presented at the 2023 ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Business School Assessment Day

Santander Scholarships, Loughborough University (June 2021) awarded a an internship award worth £2,500, as well as £1,000 in travel funding from Santander Scholarships.

Research project funding, co-investigator (April 2022) successfully secured £3,000 in research project funding by collaborating as a co-investigator with esteemed researchers from the University of Leicester and Loughborough University.

Loughborough University PhD studentship (October 2019) obtained a highly competitive PhD studentship valued at £44,331.

MSc Scholarship, Building Stronger Universities Programme (September 2015) received a substantial scholarship of 450,000 Danish Kroner through the Danida Fellowship Centre.

Research / Scholarly interests

Topics in the nexus between Strategy, Marketing and International Business. This include but not limited to emerging market firms, entrepreneurship and SMEs, business performance, business relationships, networks, coopetition.

In addition I have pivoted into Business Pedagogy investigating innovative teaching practices, and the factors that promote student outcomes.
