Dr Srinidhi Vasudevan

Senior Lecturer in Business Management

Dr Srinidhi Vasudevan is a Lecturer in Business and Management in the department of Human Resource and Organisation Behaviour. Prior to joining ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ in August 2021, she was a Post-Doctoral researcher at University College London in the Computer Science Department.

Srinidhi has extensive teaching experience. At University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ, she has taught both undergraduate and Master’s students. Prior to joining ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ, she has been teaching data analytics, network science courses at the School of Management, UCL. She has also been supervising Master’s group and individual dissertation projects both at UCL STEaPP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy) as well as at School of Management.

Srinidhi completed her PhD at the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ in 2019 and holds a Masters degree in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London and a Bachelors degree in Computer Applications. Apart from teaching and research, Srinidhi over 5 years’ experience as a technology/data consultant and has worked for Cognizant Technology Solutions, Chennai and Accenture Technology Solutions, London.

Research / Scholarly interests

Srinidhi has been conducting research applying social network analysis and machine learning for various contexts from the sociological to economic and political with her previous role looking at cyber risks experienced by boards. Aside from informing macro cybersecurity policy for the UK and other stakeholders, her work extends scholarship on board decisions-making (to create or dissolve a tie) within corporate governance theory through the synthesis of relational approaches and sociological theories. Her work on the methodological framework for mapping uptake of IoT standards is now recognised as the standard for mapping future IoT diffusion by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Recently, she is interested in the fintech and the diffusion of crypto assets and societal equity by exploring the issues of trust, identity, privacy, security in the emerging blockchain technologies.

She is also interested in pedagogic research and is interested in understanding student interactions and how student networks impact their satisfaction and performance.

Impact Development Fund. University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ funding Jan 2022

Abstract: Building on prior research looking at information search behaviour of users of crypto assets, the proposed project will contribute to empirical understanding of the uptake of DeFi tokens and will form evidence basis of (a) a comprehensive report for the project partner and (b) an analysis of how “information” is spread which impacts its uptake.

Innovation Fund. University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ funding Jan 2022

Abstract: This project aims to understand financial equity by exploring the issues of transparency, accessibility and availability in the emerging concept of Decentralised Finance (DeFi) which enables mobility of global capital and financing for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). What exactly this emerging form of global capital ‘mobility’ entails is poorly understood and understudied.

This project aims to understand how the DeFi space has evolved over time, create awareness and development workshops to SMEs and in the future provide fintech consultancy services. To understand the DeFi evolution, further research will be conducted to evaluate the extent to which borrowers (SMEs) are willing to, have knowledge of and able to access funds. It also aims to map the key stakeholders in the DeFi ecosystem including lenders, borrowers, insurers, retail investors and SMEs/MSMEs using a mixed method approach and existing research from the applicants. Through the lens of social equity which refers to the systemic absence of disparities in accessing finance, the research will use a combination of secondary data, primary data through interviews with SMEs/MSMEs and surveys from UK and South American credit networks. From the survey and interviews, network maps will be provided and a detailed report/journal article on determinants of DeFi market will be provided.

EPSRC SDTaP PETRAS Opportunities Fund, held at UCL STEaPP, London, Co-Investigator

The BECL (Building Evidence base for CoP Legislation) project  will crucially enable us to  (a) undertake a systematic data mining exercise to search for every direct and indirect instance of the standard’s uptake, and (b) draw on findings to understand the global and regional impact     of the internationalisation of standards. Direct uptake captures instances of private or public institutions directly using the CoP. Indirect uptake  captures instances where regulation based on or aligned to the UK CoP, such as the EU's ETSI EN 303 645, is adopted by users.
