Legal Advice Centre

The Legal Advice Centre is a free hybrid law clinic run by the School of Law & Criminology.

Need free legal advice?

If you have a non-urgent legal issue and need some initial advice, you can request an appointment for one of our free online advice sessions.

About the Law Clinic

The clinic is staffed with a solicitor and an administrator. Law students are trained as Student Advisers recruited from the 2nd and 3rd year law and master's programmes. The service also recruits volunteer lawyers who supervise some of the advice work.

Testimonials

The guidance and encouragement I received is massively appreciated and gave me the knowledge, confidence and motivation to move forward through this challenging situation. Thanks again for all your help with my employment claim.

I felt so alone, but the students were so friendly and knowledgeable and my claim was successful.

The free service is provided at the same standard as any legal practice and is a real help to people who no longer qualify for legal aid following cuts to public funding.

- Volunteer Lawyer

I absolutely loved the PIP form filling service; a great help to the community.

- Legal Advice Centre client

Not only did I develop a plethora of valuable skills at the LAC, I also genuinely thoroughly enjoyed my time there.
