Visitor Access

We welcome visitors from:

  1. Our Partner Colleges
  2. Clinical Staff in NHS Hospital Trusts (Avery Hill and Medway libraries only)

We are unable to offer access to students from Local schools, Sixth form Colleges, Colleges of Further Education and UTCs.

Our Partner Colleges

Those studying, or teaching, on a University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ validated programme at one of the university's partner institutions are able to use our libraries; you will need a ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Gateway Card to gain entry to the libraries.

If you are a student and don't have a ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Gateway Card, contact the Student Helpline callcentre@gre.ac.uk and they will be able to arrange this for you. Please include your 9 digit University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ student number in the email. Partner staff have to be issued with a ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Gateway Card; to arrange this contact library@gre.ac.uk.

You may be able to borrow from any of the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ libraries, (opens in a new window).

Alumni

Library access at Avery Hill and Stockwell Street libraries:

All graduates from the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ, are eligible to join our libraries. Graduates can become library members for £30 annual fee.

The membership comes with a five-book borrowing allowance, reference access, Wi-Fi access and access to a range of  for study, research and lifelong learning. Please note, these resources are for private study and non-commercial research only.

Due to the University’s licensing obligations, alumni can not currently use university computers or any electronic information products, other than online catalogues and specific alumni-only resources as mentioned above.

SCONUL Access Scheme

ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ participates in the SCONUL Access scheme. To find out more, who is eligible, and how it works, follow this link to the

Students from other Universities need to apply online via the before joining our libraries.

For access at our Avery Hill and ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ campus libraries, please follow these steps:

  1. Apply for participation to the scheme.
  2. Complete our online registration form.
  3. Send your SCONUL Access membership confirmation email and a high quality passport size photograph of yourself to librarymembership@gre.ac.uk.

For access at our , please visit the library with your home institution ID card and a printed copy of your SCONUL Access membership confirmation email.

To prepare for your visit, please make use of the . Students are encouraged to check whether their own library supports Eduroam Wi-Fi, which allows visiting students with laptops to connect to their home University intranet.

The University is also member of the , which will normally allow undergraduate students and post graduate students following taught courses at UK colleges of higher education or UK or Irish universities reference use of other higher education libraries during the summer vacations of the host institution.

Clinical Staff in NHS Hospital Trusts

Clinical Staff in NHS Hospital Trusts for which the university provides education and training for nurses, midwives and other staff can join the Avery Hill or Medway library and borrow up to 5 items from the Health stock.

As clinical staff you will not have access to the Stockwell Street library.

If you wish to join the Avery Hill or Medway library please visit during core library hours – Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm and Saturday and Sunday, 11am – 5pm..

Please bring with you a passport size photograph, your current NHS ID card for your hospital trust and proof of your home address. We also require a letter from your Manager on headed paper confirming employment (not a contract). We will make up a membership card for you, usually within 5 working days.

You must present your card every time you wish to use the library.

You can borrow up to 5 books from the health stock at Avery Hill and Medway. You can also access the internet using Govroam if you bring your own device with you (please follow your own organisation's instructions for connecting to Govroam).

Unfortunately you will not have access to databases, e-journals, reservations or document supply.
