Supporting you to build your green knowledge: our new Green ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Foundation Course

TLDRoffon

Our new Green ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Foundation Course has been designed to help you to understand what sustainability is and why it is important to us.

The university is committed to achieving net zero by 2030 and, whenever possible, reduce our environmental footprint. In February, we launched our 12-month Green ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ campaign to highlight what we have done so far to achieve our target.

Sustainability aligns with our corporate, sub and enabling strategies, and everyone has a role to play in delivering it. Through sustainability, we can deliver student success and research impact, create new partnerships and operate with smaller impacts.

We are committed to embedding sustainability at the university and want to support you to understand how its key principles can be used in your work.

To support staff to understand more about sustainability, the university has created the Green ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ Foundation course, which takes about 1 hour to complete. The course will:

  • Provide staff with a clear path to build green knowledge, including on carbon reduction, protecting nature and valuing resources
  • Help staff to understand what sustainability is and why it is important to us
  • Provide guidance for staff to make decisions and take actions to make a difference.

Staff are encouraged to complete the course now, or during their probation or appraisal, to embed sustainability into their research, teaching and work. We also hope that you will be able to use the knowledge you learn within your personal lives.
