Last weekend the Generator held their latest #GreHack with Amazon Web Services. Sixty-five students participated in the two-day hackathon solving challenges set by AWS including an AI-powered recruitment strategy and a business strategy for their Bedrock platform. This is the highest number of students to attend the event so far and a testament to the growing interest in entrepreneurship and AI among students at the University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ.

Over the two days, students participated in workshops by experts Indie Love Gordon, Neil Saunders and Emma Connor on subjects including marketing, pitching and presenting and the fundamentals of AI. Students also benefited from advice given by an expert group of mentors including Brian Bob-Jones, Bree Wimbush, Naufal Veqar, Alexandre Canet, Justyna Gruszkos and Zack Lwanga. They then pitched their ideas to our judges Magnus Schoeman and Mark Jones from AWS and the Generator's Junior Ogunyemi.

The two winning teams will be pitching their ideas to the team at AWS next month at their offices in Holborn. This is a valuable experience for students to practice their consultancy and pitching skills in a real-world environment. This is an excellent result for Team Generator who are always looking to give students new opportunities and skills to help them succeed after graduating.

Programmes manager Lynette Lisk said of the event "According to the World Economic Forum’s key exploration to how jobs and skills will evolve in the next five years, The Future of Jobs 2023 Report, “within technology adoption, big data, cloud computing and AI feature highly on likelihood of adoption. More than 75% of companies are looking to adopt these technologies in the next five years”. Events such as this hack combine with skills and knowledge University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ students are gaining from their degrees and the fantastic support from our Employability & Apprenticeships - University of ÐÓ°ÉappÏÂÔØ team to make sure they are ready for the roles of the future."
